On September 14th, 2025, I went to Jackson Day for the first time. Jackson Day is an event that celebrates the community of Jackson, New Jersey, and it has many different sponsors, live entertainment, food, games, a craft and flea market, and drone show.
I didn’t know too much about the event prior to my visit, but I heard online that the front train of the former world’s tallest coaster named Kingda Ka, was going to be on display at the event. This was the main reason I decided to attend the event.
Although the event didn’t officially start until 11 AM, I arrived around 10:30 AM and I could tell it was busy because the parking lot was already full. Once I got out of my car, I could already hear live music, and I saw hundreds of booths. There were many different options for food, and there was also a petting zoo, a rock-climbing wall, and a monster truck show. I did talk to a few of the sponsors who were managing the event, and they were all friendly and gave me a positive vibe. It reminded me of the booths that are located at Holland Ridge Farms during the spring. After interacting with many different sponsors, I found Kingda Ka’s train at the back of the event and walked over to get pictures and videos.
As many of you are aware, I was very sad when Six Flags Great Adventure retired Kingda Ka with no announcement until it officially closed. Luckily, I was among the first visitors to the booth with Kingda Ka’s train, and I had plenty of time to sit in the train one last time and admire the engineering that went into designing the train. Sitting in the train brought back so many wonderful memories that I had riding this coaster, and this was also the first time I have ever been able to see the wheels of a roller coaster up close. After hanging out at the booth for 15 minutes, I noticed a large group of roller coaster enthusiasts started heading to the booth, so I left the event shortly afterwards.
Overall, I enjoyed my brief visit to Jackson Day, and I would love to revisit next year with my family. Seeing Kingda Ka’s train was the icing on the cake for me, and I hope to see the train again next year.
