When we heard about this year being the final season of Field Station: Dinosaurs in Leonia, NJ, we had to stop and experience it firsthand. It was our first ever visit and it was a lot of fun. We are sad to see it go as it was a nice visit for people of all ages. The last day to explore this cool park will be November 9th.
The entire park is themed to "Jurassic Park in New Jersey." There are over 30 life-size dinosaurs that move and roar. As soon as you enter the park, it feels like a dinosaur exploration campsite as you are greeted by your first dinosaur, the apatosaurus.
Parts of the park are themed like a nature walk and along the walk you can find different dinosaurs with fact sheets. You can find all of the fact sheet photos that we took at the end of this article. The entire park, but especially the walks through the trees, really felt like a scavenger hunt.
There are also various experiences and shows that go on throughout the park. On your visit, you can get a passport and have it stamped at the end of each show you watch. After you get six stamps, you become a paleontologist and get a big sticker!
As dinosaur lovers ourselves, it was a really fun trip for us.
Field Station: Dinosaurs, thank you for bringing Jurassic Park to New Jersey for so many years, you will be missed!
