On the evening of August 8th and for all of August 9th, 2025, I visited Six Flags New England in Agawam, Massachusetts. This is my third legacy Six Flags park, and after the Six Flags and Cedar Fair merger in 2024, this is now considered my fifth Six Flags Park. My main reason for visiting Six Flags New England was to experience their three signature rides which are Superman: The Ride, Wicked Cyclone, and New England Skyscreamer.

On August 8th, 2025, I drove 2 1/2 hours from New Jersey to Lake Compounce in Connecticut and then drove another hour from Connecticut to a hotel in Springfield, Massachusetts. After checking into my room, I drove to Six Flags New England which was ten minutes away and managed to experience all three of their signature rides once before the park closed. The following day, I rope dropped the park, purchased a fast pass, and experienced nearly all the roller coasters and thrill rides in the park.

Ride collection:

I thought Six Flags New England had a great ride collection, especially because of their three signature rides. After talking to some roller coaster enthusiasts who regularly visit the park, I heard a lot of negative reviews about their roller coasters named Thunderbolt, Riddler Revenge, and Flashback. However, I personally did not think any of those roller coasters were bad, and I was happy to experience most of them. The only major attractions I missed were Joker and Harley Quin Spinsanity because they were closed, but I wasn’t upset about missing those attractions because I have ridden two similar attractions at Six Flags Great Adventure.

The three signature attractions:

I managed to ride the New England Skyscreamer four times, and Wicked Cyclone and Superman: The Ride nine times during my two visits. All three of these attractions lived up to the hype.

Superman: The Ride was my favorite attraction in the entire park, and it is now in my top 10 favorite roller coasters. I loved the abundance of airtime, speed, and the tunnels I traveled through. I know a lot of roller coaster enthusiasts dislike the restraints on this coaster because they are uncomfortable, but I discovered that I could avoid being stapled into my seat if I held the lap bar up until the bottom of the second hill.

Wicked Cyclone is my fourth I-Box Hybrid Coaster, and my fifth roller coaster from renowned roller coaster manufacturer Rocky Mountain Construction (RMC). Although this roller coaster is only 109 feet tall, it was more intense than I anticipated, and I repeatedly grayed out after the first drop into the first airtime hill which I did not expect. I also loved the half stall inversion, the zero- G rolls, and the ejector airtime hill before the on-ride photo.

Finally, the New England Skyscreamer is currently the second tallest swing ride in the world at 400 feet. This ride gave incredible views of the Connecticut River and the nearby Springfield, Massachusetts. I rode the Skyscreamer back at Six Flags Great Adventure only a week later which is 230 feet, and it felt small compared to the one at New England!

Overall, if you love roller coasters, I recommend visiting this park. It may take between three to four hours if you are driving from New Jersey, but luckily you can split up the drive by visiting Lake Compounce in Connecticut as a pit stop. Six Flags New England is only another hour away from Lake Compounce, and I managed to visit both parks on the same day. Next year they will open a new roller coaster named Quantum Accelerator and I would love to revisit the park in the future to experience their new roller coaster, and their top three signature attractions again.
